What is a Legacy Video?

A Legacy Video is a Life Interview

A legacy video is a recording of a loved one highlighting family history, their real-life experiences and insights to the past. It is an opportunity to document stories to share with future generations. It entails recording audio and visuals while incorporating family archival photos and genealogy documents. Why a Legacy Video?

My father and I reviewing family photos. It was opportunity to identify people and share stories during our recording session.

A video captures the spirit and personality of your loved one. Interviews are a great way for them to talk about their life and keep them engaged. And it means so much to the extended family to have these videos stories long after you’re gone. It is easier than writing a book on family lore.

Creating My Family’s Legacy

My father and I visited his Italian grandparents home in Newport, Kentucky on hour recording walking tour.

I spent a few days with my father last spring recording him. We reviewed the family photos and identified family members long gone. We visited old homes that were once occupied by family. I have a lot of editing ahead of me from the images I digitized to the video production. What I learned from this experience is that there is a lot I didn’t know. Plus, I learned that some family members do not have all their facts correct. So I am glad I got the documentation.  I am ready to dig in with editing our family’s legacy.

Where It All Began

Ten-years ago, I produced a multimedia project interviewing my parents and their life-long friends.  Since then, I have created three-documentaries interviewing hundreds of people sharing stories about their life, their neighborhood and career. Today it has evolved into Second Spring Media where I am capturing legacy portraits and videos.  I am excited to continue this passion with you.
