Family Home Sessions

Families know how difficult it can be to pack up children for any type of excursion, let alone to get to a studio on time. Orchestrating the clothes, the hair all the different needs to get into the car feels like trying to herd cats and you are more stressed than you would like to be for a family portrait. And your prep-time varies depending on the age groups from the first 48, toddlers, adolescents and so on. I specialize with seniors who might not want to adventure out during the cold winter months. I am happy to come for a visit and photograph for any family type.

5 Ways to Prepare for a Home Portrait Session

Now that you can relax a bit at home, what are some things should you prepare for with a home portrait session.

A tidy home and clear surfaces: It does not have to polished in way that you are expecting guests for a party, but think of it as removing clutter they you would stage for a home sale.

Let the Light in: Open curtains and doors to let in as much light to your home.

Secure Animals. I am happy to work with pets, but there will be moments they can be too disruptive, so make sure there is a safe place for them to rest.

Plan Activities: This all depends on the age of children to have toys available or if working with seniors, reviewing photos and heirlooms, playing with pets are a good option.

Expect the Unexpected: Children get tired, fussy, they might even need a nap, the phone will ring or a visitor drops in, these are all things we can work around. The unexpected can lead to some of the more candid moments. So, relax and enjoy the comforts of your own home.
